What is a Roll Lead Sheet and Why Use It?

Roll lead sheets are manufactured by cold-rolling high-purity (99.99% Pb) refined lead ingots into precise millimetric thicknesses. Their flexibility reduces material waste when cladding curved surfaces, long partitions, and full-height hospital walls.

Lead Thickness Standards by Equipment Type

The required lead thickness (mm Pb) is calculated based on tube potential (kVp), workload, distance, and occupancy factors:

1.00 mm - 1.50 mm Pb: Suitable for dental X-ray, periapical, and low-energy mammography rooms.
2.00 mm Pb: Standard thickness for primary barrier walls in general radiography X-ray suites.
2.50 mm - 3.00 mm Pb+: Mandatory for high-dose CT scanners, Angiography, and PET-CT suites.
